Booklet - Historical Highlights Tour Guide - Clark's Cove
One of the earliest settlements on the Bristol/South Bristol peninsula - the Clarks Cove area of South Bristol - was the focus of the first South Bristol Historical Society Historical Highlights Tour in August 2010. The self-guided tour of more than 30 sites included lovely old capes, Federal-style homes, historical buildings, old mill foundations, cellar holes and cemeteries, nestled along stonewall-lined roads or set on hilltops with beautiful views of the cove. This booklet full of fun facts and tidbits of information was included in the ticket price for the tour. Family names such as Carlisle, Clark, Goudy, Kelsey, Kent, Miller, and Wentworth figure prominently, as do the ice and brick-making businesses which were important and profitable in years past. The properties featured on the Tour are no longer open to the public, but the information included in the booklet provides a sampling of the rich history of the area.
