About Us
The South Bristol Historical Society
The SBHS was organized in 1998 with the objective of encouraging broad-based participation in the preservation and enjoyment of the rich heritage of the area. The society’s mission is to collect and preserve historic memorabilia and important records relating to town history, to promote interest and local history among school children and the general public, and to maintain and operate a reference facility making the history available to the community. On August 30, 2000, the Society opened its museum and genealogical research center in the old library building on State Route 129, just south of the swing bridge in the village of South Bristol. The museum is open in the summer on Saturday afternoons in June, July, and August from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Otherwise you may contact us year-round to schedule a visit. Please email for an appointment.
