The Old Smokehouse Lives On!
For many years, beginning in the 1930's or 40's, a smokehouse sat on the north side of the South Bristol Gut close to the swing bridge. It can be seen by the water's edge at the far left in this 1930's photo. The smokehouse was used in the early years by Irving Clifford and Henry Jones to smoke fish in the wood smoke from a cast iron stove.
